Since 1993, FILM FESTIVAL CONSULTANTS has been the foremost authority in the creation of new festivals and the development of established festivals, as well as in the planning of festival strategies for filmmakers.  FFC offers the following customized services, both in the United States and internationally:

   Feasibility Analysis and Strategic Planning
FFC
creates business plans and positioning options; undertakes competitive market analyses, and produces and manages film festival events.

   Fundraising and Sponsorship
FFC creates innovative and highly successful fundraising and sponsorship campaigns; carries out comprehensive prospect research for individual and institutional funders; and identifies and qualifies potential collaborative partners.  It has provided these resources to numerous organizations and individuals including:  Cine Accion - Festival Cine Latino, S.F.; DocFest–The New York Documentary Festival; Arab Film Festival (San Francisco); OpNet; National Educational Film & Video Festival; American Indian Film Festival; San Francisco International Film Festival; The Peacemaker Order; Rigoberta Menchú Foundation; Berkeley Symphony Orchestra; Pacific Environment & Resources Center; and SCRAP, among others.  Lauri Tanner is also the Development Director for the Buddhist Film Society and the new International Buddhist Film Festival.

  Technical & Program Development and Implementation
FFC establishes operational timetables for successful project implementation; evaluates personnel requirements and budgets; and assists with artistic direction and curatorial planning. 
Clients include: FILMOUT- San Diego Gay & Lesbian Film Festival; Jackson Hole Filmmakers Festival; Sierra Club Environmental Film Festival (New York); Cheyenne Western Film Festival; and University of Arizona Media Arts Department, among others.

  Services to Filmmakers
FFC assists independent filmmakers in developing and executing an appropriate film festival strategy, as well as in fundraising projects.  Clients include narrative filmmakers Alex Bowen Carranza of Chile and Oleg Harencar of California & Slovakia, documentarians Danny Menkin of Israel, and Stephen Olsson, Steve Bartz and David Donnenfield of California, as well as blues musician Otis Taylor of Colorado.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFOFFC Founder and Director LAURI ROSE TANNER

 In addition to the numerous clients listed on the consulting page, Lauri Tanner has also provided hands-on services in the areas of community and sponsor outreach, promotion, ticketing and other operational functions to the Sundance Film Festival, Festival ¡Cine Latino!, Jewish Film Festival, IFFCON, Film Arts Festival, National Alliance for Media Arts & Culture, and the Bay Area Women’s Film Festival, among others.   

Ms. Tanner has shared her expertise with numerous start-up and existing film & video festivals, local Film Commissions and Arts Councils, private investors, academic institutions, other non-profit organizations, as well as with award-winning filmmakers.  She also offers workshops and panels on funding, sponsorship and film festivals for groups such as The Foundation Center, CalFest /IFEA*, and Golden Gate University.  As an artist, student and consultant, Lauri lived in Europe, Mexico, Guatemala and the Middle East for more than ten years.  She speaks Spanish, and has a strong interest in Latin American film production and exhibition.

As author of the forthcoming books, How to Start Film & Video Festivals and How to Manage and Operate Film & Video Festivals, Lauri Tanner has gathered precedent-setting research, and received support, from more than 300 leaders in the international media arts and festivals fields.  She has assembled, and continues to build, the world’s largest archive and library on film festival management issues, including business development, operations, and marketing.

Lauri R. Tanner is a highly respected arts and media advocate, and holds a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Golden Gate University.  (Her first M.A. program was in Art Therapy at George Washington University, and she received her B.A. in Psychology and Art from Antioch College in 1974.)  She is an advisor to the S.F. Film & Video Arts Commission, which publishes her annual "Guide to Film & Video Festivals and Exhibition Venues."  An active member of the *International Festivals & Events Association, she is currently organizing the first North American Film Festivals Affinity Group.  Ms. Tanner covers the regional festival scene for the international women’s film magazine Angles – Women Working in Film & Video, providing interviews with visiting filmmakers and yearly overviews.
